Our Main Instructor Sensei Karen trained from the age of 6 with her dad and brother under Sensei Scott Saunders and after a few years joined Stevenage Karate Club which Karen had learned to appreciate as a good and strong club that was run by an outstanding instructor, Derek Oakley.
Her father Tom Peebles was still training and Over the years Toms' involvement in the club has grown and in the Summer 2003 Tom became Senior Club Instructor for Stevenage Karate Club.
Stevenage Karate Club currently has 85 active members, including 16 JKA black belts and 15 new beginners.After leaving to have her children Karen went back to the club and trained hard to pass her black belt and started getting more involved in the club in the teaching side which not only improved her technical ability it also allowed her to realise how much she loved it and after more hard work passed her Instructors and Judges exams.
Since then Karen has continued her teaching in her main club Stevenage Karate Club, but as the starting age is 7+ many of parents have asked about a club for young children so Karen decided to start Kickers Karate for 4-6 year olds as a weekend club. Kickers Karate is for children aged 4, 5 and 6 year olds. The lessons are aimed at young children and are more karate based games and drills,
Kickers Karate is affiliated with its adult club Stevenage Karate Club.
